Remington College Cosmetology Campuses Participating in “Locks of Love” Donation Efforts

locksofloveAs part of our ongoing commitment to assist communities and people in need, all Remington College campuses that offer a Cosmetology Program are pleased to announce their participation as official Locks of Love donation centers.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida. Since early 1998, they have been providing custom-made, fitted hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children and young adults age 21 or younger who are suffering from long-term hair loss caused by various medical conditions.

As registered Locks of Love participants, our Remington College cosmetology campuses are currently accepting donations of hair as well as monetary contributions that will benefit children in need. The criteria for hair donations are as follows:

  • Donated hair must be at least 10 inches in length from tip to tip, clean, and dry.
  • It must be bundled in a ponytail or braid.
  • Hair must be free of bleach. Colored or permed hair is acceptable.
  • Shorter hair (6 to 10 inches in length) and gray hair can also be donated, with the understanding that it will be sold to help offset manufacturing costs.

Each Remington College full-service salon setting* offers hair donors a free blunt cut for donations of 10 inches or longer to Locks of Love. Appointments are recommended and can be arranged by contacting the Remington College cosmetology campus* nearest you. Tax-deductible financial contributions are also accepted.

Locks of Love Communications Director Lauren Kukkamaa comments, “Our organization is extremely grateful to Remington College for their generous volunteerism.  We are excited to learn that Remington College’s cosmetology campuses have been registered as official Locks of Love participating salons,* which will further our efforts to help children living with medical hair loss. Continuing awareness of Locks of Love’s efforts will assist us in reaching more and more families and improving the day-to-day lives of these children.”
