Mobile College Campus Is Hog Wild for Great Causes

In an effort to help in the fight against Cerebral Palsy, Remington College – Mobile Campus participated in the ninth annual “BBQ Championship and Hog Wild Festival,” held at the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds on March 12 and 13, 2010.

The Campus sponsored a tent and cooked ribs and a delicacy known as “fried Boston butt,” perfected by the Campus’s adopted staff member Brian Thorpe.

At one point, there were over 75 hungry patrons waiting to sample our food! More than 10,000 people came out to enjoy the barbecue and support the fight against Cerebral Palsy,” noted Campus President Steve Backman.

But the barbecue events didn’t stop there!

Mr. Backman and several staff from the Mobile Campus attended a second barbecue on May 1, 2010, to further benefit the local community and spread the word about Remington College and its programs.  The “Keep Citronelle Beautiful Barbecue Cook-Off” was held in Citronelle, Alabama.

We were such a hit at the Hog Wild event in March that we were asked to participate in the Citronelle event. It was a smaller venue, with about 20 barbecue teams, but the food was just as serious,” said Mr. Backman.

This event was sponsored by the Citronelle Historical Society. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase and install new street signs.

We have a great school filled with passionate people, all working toward the same goal: providing a quality education to our students, which in turn builds a better workforce….

We are heavily involved in getting the word out to the community about our school and its programs, including our newest: the Process Control Engineering Technology associate’s degree program. We look forward to continuing our active participation in various community events,” added Mr. Backman.
