Remington College in Mobile, Alabama, hosted the monthly meeting of the Mobile chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) on June 11, 2010.
About 75 local HR representatives attended the meeting.
Campus attendees included Career Services Representatives LaTasha Ndongo, Karen Daughtry, and Kyle Callaghan; Executive Assistant Kristy King; and Director of Student Finance Linda Calvanese. Summer-themed door prizes included beach getaway bags, bottled water, frisbees, hand sanitizer, and beach mats.
This was our Mobile Campus’s second time as host. The SHRM meetings provide a resource for networking with local HR professionals, which is an integral part of getting students placed in their fields of study. The affiliation between SHRM and the Mobile Campus began several years ago.
SHRM has more than 575 chapters around the globe offering local activities. Its mission is to partner with human resource professionals, businesses, academic institutions, governments, and the media to address people management topics and provide thought leadership, research, and educational opportunities in the field.
“Getting out and connecting with our community, especially with the folks who hire in our local area, is integral to the success of our campus. By making these connections, we’re ensuring that we promote Remington College in our community and that we stay connected to what local hiring managers are looking for in our students,” said Mobile Campus President Steve Backman.
