Kids get cards, sweet treats, and cookies to decorate
Remington College – Dallas Campus students will be helping create a special Valentine’s Day celebration for kids at three Buckner Children and Family Services afterschool programs.
On February 14, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., students in the Remington College Dallas Pastry Arts Diploma Program and Culinary Arts Degree Program will play Cupid and deliver Valentine Care Packages that include:
- A Valentine card from the Remington College students
- A fudge brownie
- A heart-shaped crispy treat
- Cookies
- A lollipop
Students and instructors will also bring large heart-shaped sugar cookies and will help the kids design and decorate their own cookies.
“Our students will be creating some very special treats and can’t wait to share them with some very special children,” said Sandra Cohen, Pastry Arts Program Chair.
Students will deliver the goodies to three Buckner Afterschool Program locations:
- Buckner at Hillburn Hills Resource Center, 2603 Hillburn Dr., Building 6
- Buckner at Simari Ridge Resource Center, 3460 S. Loop 12
- Buckner at Wynnewood Community Center, 2006 Didsbury Circle
About 20-30 kids are expected at each site.
The Remington College Pastry Arts Diploma Program is designed to help prepare students to turn their taste for baking into a fun and challenging potential career . Students in the Pastry Arts Diploma Program have the opportunity to learn how to create and artfully present breads, cakes, and pastries.
