A dedicated group of Electronics and Computer Technology (ECT)(1) and Computer and Network Administration (CNA) students from our Memphis Campus received certificates after completing a laptop training session sponsored by Flextronics. The training was held at our Memphis Campus on Tuesday, March 25, to Thursday, March 28, from 1 PM to 5 PM.

Blanchard Winbush, Senior Training and Safety Manager for Flextronics Global Services in Memphis, developed what has become known as the Flextronics Interview Preparation Program (IPP). During his more than five years of teaming with Remington College via the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) and his involvement with the process of screening candidates for hire at Flextronics, Mr. Winbush has continued to seek opportunities for placement of college graduates throughout the Memphis area.

Thanks to Mr. Winbush, Barbara Taylor (Flextronics HR), Shana Wilson and Eric McDaniel (Flextronics tech trainers), and their close working relationship with ECT/CNA Program Chair Laurie Martin, 10 Remington students were able to participate in the joint venture of laptop training to further their marketing opportunities within their career field.(2)

Flextronics Training Session
On the first day of training, an orientation period and introductory techniques were presented. In addition, employment applications were completed and background checks performed. Once the background checks were found to meet Flextronics hiring standards, students who met the satisfactory criteria were allowed to proceed with the training process.(2)

Time remaining throughout the week required our students to perform the steps needed to achieve a passing grade and approval ratings that would enable them to proceed with employment processing into Flextronics via the Aerotek staffing agency.(2)

Memphis Director of Education Jim Zinsmeister said, “We congratulate all of our trainees and applaud their dedication. This is a wonderful partnership with Flextronics. They are a part of our PAC, and it is a great working relationship that we hope will continue for years to come.”
