Tampa Dental Assisting Student Wins Award from AMT

Jacqueline Acevedo, a student in Remington College’s Dental Assisting program in Tampa, has won the Outstanding Student of the Year Award in the Dental Assistant category from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).1

This award consists of a $250 prize, a plaque recognizing the achievement, and a free full-package registration to the AMT Educational Program and National Meeting, to be held from July 7 through 10 at the Drake Hotel, in Chicago, Illinois. Our Tampa Campus will also receive a plaque in honor of this achievement. 

Attendance at the National Meeting will give Jacqueline the opportunity to attend three days of educational sessions, view how a professional organization operates, and accept her award at the AMT Awards Banquet.

Jacqueline was nominated by Tampa Dental Assisting Instructor Tyna Surace-Partin. The award criteria on which the judges based their award were as follows:

  • Outstanding academic record
  • Participation in extracurricular school or professional activities
  • Participation in community outreach activities
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Exemplary attitude, initiative, and motivation
  • Exceptional rapport with classmates, instructors, and others

Ms. Partin said, “I feel very blessed to have had Jackie in my class. She is a phenomenal student and has shown nothing but the highest level of commitment to her career, the dental profession, and the relationships she has built while she has been in school. We are excited to see what the future holds for her in this field. The sky is the limit for her!”1

Director of Education Michael Seltzer added, “We are so proud of Jackie! Our thanks go to Tyna for nominating her for this wonderful honor.”
