A few weeks ago, North Houston (Greenspoint) Medical Assisting student Tracy Bodiford was on her way to school as usual. As the Houston traffic crawled ahead, Tracy finally noticed the reason for the delay: a wrecked motorcycle on the side of the road. Lying in the ditch next to the wreckage was the rider, badly hurt and not moving.

Many of us might have no idea what to do next, but thanks to her training at Remington College, Tracy was prepared for situations like this one. Sinking into the mud with rain pouring down, Tracy began preforming cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while remembering what her instructors had taught her: to stay calm and use the skills she’s gained.

Eventually, local paramedics arrived on the scene to take over, and she was finally able to relax. But Tracy didn’t let that prevent her from showing up to class. Soaking wet, covered in mud, and shaking from the stress of the rescue, Tracy still made it to campus on time. She credits her preparedness to the skills she’s gained in her Medical Assisting class and to the excellent training from her CPR instructor, Vivian Greeno.

“My passion about CPR goes far beyond the classroom,” said Ms. Greeno. “This military vet nicknamed ‘The Drill Sergeant’ takes saving a life seriously, and it paid off.”

All of us at the North Houston Campus and at Remington College are very proud of Tracy and are glad that her knowledge and skills were put to good use helping a person in need. Way to go, Tracy!
