A canned food drive for the Granbury Mission’s Food Pantry was held on July 8, 2014, during the lunch periods at our Fort Worth Campus. The drive was sponsored by National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), and the group collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations from students, faculty, and staff throughout those periods.

Medical Assisting student Amber Collins and NTHS Advisor/Pharmacy Technician instructor Esmeralda Sutton led the effort. In total, the NTHS group was able to collect $77 and 47 food items in a short time. NTHS member Amber Collins personally delivered the donated items to the food bank after the drive.

The Granbury Mission’s Food Pantry provides help to families in need in Hood and surrounding counties in Texas. As written on their website, “You cannot give without feeling joy.” Giving most definitely helps recipients, but those who are the givers also experience the great feeling of having done something useful and so important to help their fellow human beings.

We salute our dedicated NTHS group in Fort Worth for organizing a worthwhile effort to help those in need in their community.

Fundraiser for American Cancer Society
Earlier in the year, the Universal Caterers food truck visited our Fort Worth Campus to help and raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Universal Caterers generously agreed to donate the day’s proceeds toward funds being raised in support of the Relay for Life. Students and staff flocked to the food truck for a tasty lunch while supporting a great cause.

In total, the food truck raised $231 for the American Cancer Society. Our Fort Worth Campus is grateful to Universal Caterers and to all of the students and staff who made this fundraiser a success.
